Why I don't carry a trap and have only ever trapped a possum once in my entire career. That one time was due to builders fully sealing a corrugated tin roof and there was no where to install a possum exit. That was 15 years ago now.

Why I don't need possum traps

I do what the possums do, I locate weak points on your roof. Perhaps a tile had slipped out of position, or there was poor workmanship when the roof was originally built, meaning there has always been a hole on your roof for possums to enter. Sometimes storm damage has opened up a hole or just simply house movement. If there's a hole on your roof possums will find it and move in, which means I'll find that same hole and evict them. Via the use of a possum exit.

What is a possum exit?

The possum exit works much the same as a doggy door but the way it is designed allows the possums to only go one way - and that way is out of your roof! Allowing you to get the sleep you need.

I ensure any secondary holes or weak points are also repaired making sure the possums can't simply use another point and enter your roof.

Why are possum traps bad?

Possum traps cause huge stress for the possum also stress for yourself. Possums usually wake up around dusk or just a little bit after. Now, if that possum goes straight for the tasty apple inside the trap just after dusk, it will smash and bang around in that trap all night long. This causes injury to the possum but also prevents you getting a good nights sleep. Another issue you will have is if the holes are not repaired where the possum was entering, that possum will be able to access your roof as it always had. By law possums can only be released within a 50 metre radius of the capture site which means they're still in their own territory and know where home is - your roof.
